For context, the reported reason for the police response was based on a notification from Bendigo Bank alleging "suspicious behavior" and "obscured number plates" concerning my vehicle. It is my understanding that Bendigo Bank's automated systems flagged my account balance of $0 as "suspicious activity," which consequently led to the involvement of the police. This initial report to law enforcement resulted in an officer drawing a firearm upon my arrival at the Kalbar Mitre 10 car park.
The aforementioned incident transpired at the Kalbar Mitre 10 car park, specifically within the entry driveway located at 30 Purdon Street, Kalbar QLD 4309.
To provide a comprehensive overview, an incident involving officers of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) occurred at the Kalbar Mitre 10 car park on 17 April 2025. The incident commenced with an officer drawing a firearm shortly after I had parked my vehicle in the entry driveway. In my assessment, the police response was disproportionate and excessive, as I presented no immediate threat and was not engaged in any suspicious behavior. This situation appears to have arisen from a report by Bendigo Bank concerning "suspicious behavior," which I believe was triggered by their automated systems. Additionally, the infringement notice issued contained an incorrect address, and the initial conduct of the officers appeared unduly aggressive. I also wish to reiterate that this incident could be characterized as an “armed wellness check on an Autistic man buying Gas.”
