The Adelaide Ledger: Community Contribution, Vehicle Shelter and Housing
The Adelaide Ledger: Community Contribution, Vehicle Shelter and Housing
PERSONAL ACCOUNT & DOCUMENTARY RECORD
Scope: Food relief work, vehicle rental, support vouchers and housing applications.
“I’ve been left out in the open, exposed.”
A collection of receipts, cards and application slips can look like a set of administrative details. For me, they belong to the daily effort of keeping food available, paying for the vehicle where I slept, and trying to secure housing while contributing to the community.
This article brings that account together with the documents identified below. The images are still to be attached. The dates and descriptions are recorded here so each can be checked against its source.
1. Three Months of Community Work in Adelaide
For three months in Adelaide, I volunteered with Faith Works Food Assist, helping with food distribution and the practical logistics of getting supplies to people. This was work I continued while facing housing insecurity myself.
The supporting material includes a Faith Works Food Assist card described as issued on 20 July 2026, under the name recorded in the source description as Ivan Breicvic. The image will allow the spelling, date and nature of the card to be checked. A card may establish registration or association; the full period and duties of voluntary service should be read alongside service logs, photographs or other contemporaneous records where available.

My contribution belongs in the record of my circumstances. It does not remove my housing needs, and access to safe shelter should not depend on whether someone has performed volunteer work.
2. Keeping the Vehicle Available as Shelter
My vehicle functioned as primary shelter as well as transport. Keeping up with rental and maintenance costs meant keeping that shelter available. A payment described as “car rental” therefore had a practical significance that the transaction label alone cannot explain.
- Vehicle rental: The identified transaction is a $220.00 Osko transfer on 26 July 2026, described as paid to Sammy / Creative Works for CAR RENTAL. The receipt is to be attached. It should be checked for the recipient, description and date; a single payment does not establish the total rental cost or period covered.
- Support vouchers: The identified material includes Coles cards valued at $30 and $50, described as dating from July and August 2026. The cards need to be read in context to distinguish assistance I received from cards or supplies used in food distribution.
- Housing application: The recorded reference is 5549774. The application card is a reference point for the housing history; current status, eligibility decisions or an offer require the accompanying correspondence.

Coles distribution cards and support vouchers: $30 / $50, described as July–August 2026. Captions should identify the purpose of each card.

3. The Human Consequences of Administrative Directions
My account is that I faced pressure concerning the return or surrender of the vehicle while relying on it as shelter. I felt that the practical consequences, and the community work I was doing, were overlooked.
When the vehicle is where I sleep, a direction to give it up affects shelter as well as transport. The question is concrete: where was I expected to sleep, and what suitable alternative was actually available?
The relevant directions should be recorded accurately: who made them, when, what reason was given, and what alternative was offered. Correspondence and contemporaneous notes can establish those details. My experience of being exposed and under pressure is part of this account; a conclusion about an organisation’s conduct requires examination of the supporting record.
The documents matter because they connect those questions to daily life. A rental payment can mean keeping the car available for another period. A support voucher can help meet an immediate food need. Housing paperwork records an attempt to secure somewhere to live. Read together with their context, they show what I was carrying while continuing to help others.
4. Evidence Register

| Vehicle-related directions | Correspondence or contemporaneous notes to be added | Establish the instruction, its timing, the reason given and any alternative shelter proposed. |
5. What This Record Asks Readers to Consider
My community work, housing insecurity and transport costs occurred within the same life. They should be considered together when assessing what support was available and what administrative directions meant in practice. The purpose of this archive is to make that sequence accessible, with each document connected to the circumstances it records.
