Private Dancer by [Leather, Stephen]

The things you miss over the years.

I missed a lot apparently.

I had heard about the book reading The Umbrella Man, by Jake Needham.

I had also heard about Bali Dreaming by Vanya Vetto, from another one of Jake Needham's novels. That Inspector Tay has good taste in books.

Correction, he finds dead westerners with good taste in books.

The book goes on and on.

Pete has become a good friend of mine.

Having read  Bangkok Bob and the Missing Mormon, I had familiarised myself with reading Stephen Leather books set in Bangkok.

He knows the scene.

He writes about it without any embellishments.

He strips the illusion raw and what is exposed is a Bangkok that many of us have experienced one time or another.

It's a dangerous world out there and Bangkok is no different.

The phantom fucks of the book can be construed 'as the love of my life' by the newbies.

I've always connected the dots of Private Dancer to Jack Reynolds' A Woman of Bangkok.

But Stephen Leather does one better.

He's spilling his guts, once and for all. This is how it is, this is how it always will be. I've laid it on the table. And if you want to be fucked over by a bar girl, then go ahead at your own peril.
