BREAKFAST SPECIAL: Wanderings in Hoboken by [Rogers, Mark]
I had never heard of Hoboken.

Really I hadn't.

A quick look at the map and New Jersy ain't far away.

I'm a big fan of the hard-hitting Mark Rogers, in his novels.

You can see him as a young man handling himself well.

It's that meeting with a lady with false teeth.

Take them out and let her suck hard. There are virtues to being toothless.

Add in another young writer, John.

And you got a New York that will never be the same.

It's been recorded.

Mark did his best.

Street justice.

Some great action here.

It was Mark's left jab that sent the bully to hospital for six stitches.

It's a New York of another era and also a history of the inner streets.

Mark always treats the bums with sympathy.

Inner city madness, boy aint it contagious.

I liked this book for many reasons.

One of the main ones was for his brutal honesty.

Drinks and more.

This is an alcohol fueled journey of a man finding himself in the concrete jungles.

If you want to know what motivates Mark in his novels, read this book.

It's got clues all over the place.

Where John Langsdorf met Allen Ginsberg, you are just hoping beyond all hope that Mark would meet his hero, Charles Bukowski.

Hay, at least there was a full quote from Women

As to why this book wasn't titled Bar Fly, is anyone's guess.

It's New York, it's a community, it's the way it was, it's getting by, it's getting a head, it's exposing it for what it really was.

There's really no categorizing it.

Breakfast Special: Wondering through Hoboken is a special little book.
