Outside, the dogs are howling, strays on the prowl, the cat is hissing and Mark Rogers has a shovel handy.

He won't let a rattle snake get in the way of a good story.

Bang, bang.

The tail stops rattling and Mark continues on with his latest story, The Gray Hunter.

His room is dark, simple and he's chasing the keyboard with two fingers, typing up a story of abduction. Throw in a Nazi hunter, steep the story with traveling the four corners of the globe, a cinch for this globe trotter, then you got a hundred fast paced pages  that Mark is highly suited for. He doesn't waste time in drawing the reader in. For him, he tackles the novella like a thousand word travel piece. He'll make it even tighter, knowing that the editor will cut it down by three hundred words so it fits on the travel page, out the back, just before sports, which takes the lion share of space.

The sense of urgency will be apparent, as you flick through the pages, thinking is this semi autobiographical. It caught Neo Text's eyes and they  decided to publish his Mexican Noir series on the back of this commissioned work.

Gray Hunter is an accomplished piece of writing that borrows from every trick of the literary trade while not sacrificing an iota that we expect from Mark Rogers, grit, grit and more grit.

He pauses, the cat needs attention.

He places a bowl of warm milk for her and throws the rattle snake out to the baying dogs.

And continues writing.. .
