Needham’s power of observation isn’t only first hand but borrows liberally from one of my favorite travel web sites,Google Maps, if you haven’t noticed. That always does for it me. It’s always like an Easter Egg hunt. Try and explain the front entrance of Cordis Hotel on Reclamation street.Needham makes it look easy.
The hotel’s main entrain faced onto a wide driveway that was actually a two-lane road paved in brown brick that ran through an open portico underneath the building.
It’s all about the travel details. Get it wrong, and the reader’s gunna dump you like a hot potato.
As a travel writer, I’m a bit vague on my location. I have a lot to learn and reading Needham books always steers me in the right direction.
The Shing Wai Electrical Supplies. See, Neeham takes us to the heart of a place, every fucking time. It’s actually listed as Shing Wai Supplies Co., Ltd, but if you zoom into google street view, you’ll see they stock electronics. And it’s here that John August will stake out the hotel across the road.
This is interactive cinema at it’s best.
Uh hum, novel?
That too!
